Corrections and Source Policy
Cybersecurity is nuanced. Concepts change, tools change, and simplified explanations can miss important edge cases.
The goal of The Security Notebook is to explain topics carefully and improve over time.
Source policy
When possible, notes and videos should use sources such as:
- official documentation
- standards bodies
- government advisories
- vendor reports with clear evidence
- MITRE ATT&CK or similar reference projects
- primary sources for definitions or incidents
Corrections policy
If a note or video gets something wrong, oversimplifies too much, or misses important context, the correction should be added here or on the relevant note page.
A good correction should include:
- what changed
- what the original issue was
- the corrected explanation
- the source or reasoning behind the correction
